The Ticonderoga Golf Course, founded in 1925, is home to a unique eighteen-hole golf course located on the northern end of Lake George. Phinney Design Group has worked closely with the Ticonderoga Board of Trustees to emphasize its casual and inclusive nature, while maintaining it as a social nexus at a historic and naturally beautiful site. The existing farmhouse that was converted to the golf course’s club house was unfortunately loss to fire in 2018. The new structure connects a series of dining and lounge areas with two large, screened porches that anchor the building to the South and North. The series of spaces can act as one event space hosting up to 150 people or be partitioned off with glass doors to host several events or dining experiences.

A vaulted ceiling at the core of the space floods the center of the plan with natural light through the use of clerestory windows. A series of glass doors connects the main dining room and bar to flex dining spaces while preserving majestic views from all areas within the plan. A lower-level bar and lounge allows for casual gatherings after golf while more formal dining or events could be taking place upstairs. Ticonderoga Golf Course’s popularity as a gathering place will be dramatically enhanced as the new facility and dining options will be able to host weddings, family reunions, and business outings into Ticonderoga. Ticonderoga Golf Course will provide another reason for people to want to live and work in the community, positioning itself as an attractor and facilitator for businesses and families.
