Shoreline Camp Lake George, NY

Desiring a unique and family oriented vacation home, the owners hired Phinney Design Group to design a house incorporating recycled features and characteristics, including reused timber members. Located on Lake George in Upstate New York, the view from the house opens out to the picturesque Adirondack Mountains. Visitors can visually connect to the steamboats and other vessels on Lake George throughout the various communal spaces both inside and out of the house. A large screened porch extends from the kitchen and dining room providing a cozy space with a custom hung daybed.
The linear, contemporary staircase introduces guests to an open gallery upstairs. Designed with operable skylights the second floor becomes an oasis in the hot summer months with natural ventilation flowing throughout the two upper levels. Pine shiplap paneled walls are characteristic throughout the entire house giving a modern Cape Cod feel to the house. Central to the plan are two fireplaces, in the living room and lower level recreation room, both finished with natural stone and providing a warm and familiar feel. The home was featured in Better Homes and Gardens Magazine and spotlighted in television interviews. This Lake George house represents the perfect simplicity of warm, contemporary design.
