Saratoga Victorian Readapted Saratoga Springs, NY

Phinney Design Group designed this distinctive Saratoga Springs residence to celebrate the architectural character of the city while creating a home tailored to contemporary living. Drawing inspiration from the Arts and Crafts tradition and Saratoga’s historic residential architecture, the design combines classic proportions, rich materials, and carefully crafted details with a modern approach to comfort and functionality.

The home’s exterior will feature a layered composition of natural stone, wood shingles, warm wood accents, and standing-seam metal roofing. Deep roof overhangs, exposed brackets, detailed trim, and a generous covered front porch will establish a strong sense of craftsmanship and create a welcoming connection between the home and its neighborhood.

A prominent three-story bay will introduce additional architectural interest while bringing natural light into the interior. Large windows throughout the residence will further strengthen connections between indoor and outdoor spaces.

Set behind the main house, a detached carriage house and garage will complement the architecture of the residence while creating a traditional courtyard-like relationship between the two structures. A brick driveway and stone landscape walls will reinforce the historic character of the property and provide a transition from the streetscape to the more private areas of the site.

The project will combine the charm and craftsmanship associated with Saratoga Springs’ historic homes with the performance and conveniences of contemporary residential design, creating a residence that feels both established within its surroundings and distinctly suited to modern life.
