Located in the historic Saratoga Spa State Park, the Peerless Pool bathhouse has been replaced with a smaller, sustainable and modern facility. Originally opened back in 1962, the complex attracts nearly 31,000 visitors each summer. The Peerless Pool is one of two main public pools in the Saratoga Spa State Park. The pool itself has stayed intact while the bathhouses, concessions and grounds have been renovated. The bathhouse has been replaced with a smaller version, allowing for more green space throughout the compound and also easier to navigate for guests. The plan features include solar panels on the roof, a passive cooling system and an overall design that is easier to maintain. Additional changes include larger changing areas and bathrooms, a new entrance and courtyard complete with benches, bike racks, updated lighting and landscaping. The new structure is energy efficient and accessible. The fresh, contemporary design will meet the current social expectations of what the public expects from a bathing facility, updating the 1960s design to met the needs of modern families.
