Lake Placid Retreat Lake Placid, NY
All Photos
Nestled into an outlet of Lake Placid, the project was conceived as a “lean to” with a large shed roof sloping down towards the road side. This Southern façade is lake facing and comprised of expansive glass walls, allowing for plenty of natural light. The family of four wanted both a ski and summer retreat equipped to frequently host guests and extended family.
Large openings were designed into the East and West ends of the home to accommodate the prevailing summer breeze and passively cool the interior. Locally sourced natural materials were selected with a modern aesthetic, including American granite, bluestone, western red cedar, and douglas fir beams and soffits.
