Phinney Design Group worked closely with Village officials and the Lake George Volunteer Fire Department in the design and construction of this newly completed emergency response facility. Phinney Design Group guided the Village and the fire department through a series of design charrettes and open discussion forums; arriving at a design that worked within the budget constraints while meeting the basic programmatic needs of the Lake George Fire Department and allowing for additional amenities such as a new fitness room, a larger commercial style kitchen, a larger public meeting area, and a private board room.

Energy efficiency and a healthy indoor working environment were the focus of this design and the facility was designed according to the requirements set forth by the United States Green Building Council and the LEED rating system. Under New York State’s Wick’s Law for public projects, Phinney Design Group worked closely with the four prime contractors and the clerk of the works to complete the project under budget with less than 1% total change orders. The completed project provides a safer, larger, more energy efficient, and accessible emergency response facility that can be used by both the Fire Department and the community.
