Glen Lake Cottage Queensbury, NY

The owners wished to host their family of six without altering the character of the beloved surrounding community. On approach, the camp appears a charming, single-story cottage in tune with its surroundings. Its large fireplace and staggered façade provide strategic shrouding, allowing light to enter while hiding the neighboring cottages and directing views toward the lake beyond.
Emerging from the deck is a stone staircase that carves out the dramatic hillside, defining a walkout patio while shielding it from view. The home’s exterior features sustainably preserved cedar siding with sousugiban battens, motor-operable windows to enable passive cooling, and traditional rain chains to elegantly direct runoff into rain gardens that buffer the lake edge.
