Coat Room Saratoga Springs, NY

Coat Room is a preferred customer-based restaurant and bar hidden in the back of the lobby of a prominent building at 385 Broadway in Saratoga Springs, NY. Once you open the simple black door with small letters that read “Coat Room”, the visitor is met with a view of a two-story space with extensive millwork, wainscot, trim, stone tile, fabrics and wall coverings. Phinney Design Group provided all Architecture, Interior Design and Construction Management Services for the project, coordinating every detail from the first concept sketches to making sure the space was move-in ready. PDG also provided all Furniture, Fixtures and Equipment selection and procurement services making sure every component of the opulent bar/restaurant was ready for opening including a custom walnut bar with brass detailing and drink rail.
Antique mirrors, custom cabinets and shelving fill the space with a palette of walnut, brass, black steel, saddle leather, dark green accents with lush fabrics and wall coverings. The Coat Room celebrates a time gone by as the location is where the lobby of the former United States Hotel once existed; previously one of the largest hotels in the world with over 1,000 rooms and built in 1863. Phinney Design Group team worked with the local historic association to find an extensive number of photographs from the glory days of the U.S. Hotel, making sure all locations, frames and placement of the historic photographs would put the finishing touches on the design.
