Phinney Design Group is seeking a full-time Interior Designer for our Saratoga office location. In this role you’ll focus on elevating the quality of interior architectural design across our portfolio. You will be primarily responsible for interior design on residential projects however may be called upon to work on a variety of project types including commercial and institutional projects. You’ll develop and execute design solutions for projects under the direction of leadership, and gain a thorough understanding of the Studio’s design philosophy by providing major input and participation in developing and presenting design concepts. You’ll utilize an understanding of all phases of a project, including programming client needs, conceptual and schematic design, design development, construction drawings, and construction administration. You’ll work with project architects and teams to manage client expectations and ensure design intent is accurately interpreted in documents.

You’ll collaborate with clients, consultants, furniture dealers, product reps, fabricators, building and permitting officials, and several other outside parties to ensure projects meet objectives and conform to contract and design specifications. You’ll be able to create and implement project systems and an environment conducive to high quality design and professionalism.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Research interior products, select colors/finishes/materials and apply established interior design standards
  • Develop design solutions for review and perform checking and/or verification tasks
  • Support business development activities through assistance with aids such as finish boards and presentations
  • Assist architectural staff with client contact and interactions to properly program and select interiors products. Will be required to make presentations to clients for approval of designs
  • Perform site surveys and documentation to establish existing equipment schedules
  • Maintain interior design library and serve as a point of contact for interior product vendors

Requirements/Qualifications

  • 5-7 years as an Interior Designer I or related experience
  • Equivalent of an Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Interior Design
  • Proficiency working in Revit, 3-D software in producing interior finish drawing packages
  • Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop)
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Excellent communication skills; detail oriented; highly organized; self-motivated; accurate; work well under pressure

IDEAL CANDIDATES WILL have

  • Specific experience working on high-end residential projects
  • Specific experience in selecting, specifying, and procurement of finishes and furniture to complement and enhance architectural finishes
  • Expertise in residential client interaction and has a history of successful outcomes. Demonstrated ability to work directly with Project Architects and in many cases lead the team during client interactions
  • NCIDQ Certification completed or nearing completion
