The Double H Hole in the Woods Ranch is a charitable organization that provides summer and winter Adirondack camping experiences to children dealing with life-threatening illnesses. When Double H outgrew its existing Arts and Crafts / Ski Lodge, it contacted Phinney Design Group to design renovations and a new addition to this multi-purpose building. Located at the base of the Double H ski slope, the building is used as a gathering space and hosts a variety of activities year round. Phinney Design Group developed a cost effective Adirondack-style renovation and addition to the building that increased interior space, improved circulation and provided secure storage areas for ski equipment. PDG staff worked closely with the Double H facilities department to insure the design would accommodate the skills and services of many volunteer workers who made the construction possible. Campers are now able to ski directly into the lodge and remove gear in a spacious, well-equipped lodge area, and the Arts and Crafts program can now accommodate more campers, staff and projects in its newly expanded space. This project was especially rewarding for everyone at Phinney Design Group, knowing the joy it would bring to future campers at Double H Ranch.
